A federal judge has sentenced a licensed gun dealer to two years and three months in prison for selling firearms to a convicted felon, the U.S. Attorney's office announced Wednesday.
David L. Cammack, 61, of Owenton, was sentenced Tuesday by United States District Court Judge Danny C. Reeves, a news release said.
In 2012, Cammack, a federal firearm licensed (FFL) dealer, admitted that on three separate occasions he sold one or more firearms in Owen County to a person he knew was a convicted felon. Under federal law, convicted felons are prohibited from legally purchasing and possessing firearms.
According to the release, Cammack has voluntarily surrendered his FFL license. Cammack pleaded guilty in December.
