The body of the man found in Lexington's Lake Ellerslie earlier this month has been identified by dental records as Michael Sanderson, 45, Fayette Coroner officials said.

The cause of death remains undetermined.

Lexington Police Sgt. Pete Ford said the case remains open, but he had no additional details Tuesday.

The remains were sent to Frankfort for examination by the state medical examiner's office.

On April 6, part of the body was found floating a short distance from shore at Lake Ellerslie Fishing Club, across from Jacobson Park.

The body was found by the caretaker of the private fishing club. More body parts were found the next day.

A backpack with identification was found on Sanderson's body. Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn has previously said he thought the body had been in the water since summer.
