Text messages helped state police unravel the mystery surrounding a missing man whose body was found in Carter County last year.
Nathan R. Barker, 21, of Olive Hill, apparently fell from a cliff after wrecking his car at the intersection of Ky. 7 and Ky. 986, according to a news release from state police.
Among evidence recovered near Barker's body was his cell phone. Technicians repaired the phone and recovered text messages Barker tried to send saying he wrecked his car and was looking for help, the release said.
Barker said in the messages he was unfamiliar with the area, the release said. He apparently walked into a wooded area and fell down a cliff.
