A body was recovered Friday from a house that caught fire in Harlan County, authorities said.
Kentucky State Police spokesman Shane Jacobs said the victim has been tentatively identified as Shirley Madrey Roe, 61.
Roe's son told officials that his mother lived alone, Jacobs said.
The fire broke out about 1:30 a.m. Friday in the Cranks community. Officials from the Harlan County coroner's office and the state fire marshal's office have been at the house since 5:30 a.m., Jacobs said.
