Police documents identify woman shot Saturday at Lexington gas station

Lexington police documents identify a woman who was shot Saturday morning at a Fayette County gas station as Ciji D. Barnes, 29.

Barnes was shot at the BP gas station at the Interstate 75 Athens-Boonesboro exit.

In interviews, state and Lexington police officials have declined to name the victim, who was shot by a man who led police on a chase into Scott County and who was ultimately killed on I-75 by a Scott County sheriff's deputy.

On Saturday night, state police said the woman was in serious condition at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. UK Hospital spokeswoman Julie Phillips said Tuesday that she had no information about a person named Ciji Barnes.

State police are investigating the case in which they say deputy sheriff Grayson Mark Isaacs killed Ronald Michael Davis, 31, of Berea, after Davis allegedly shot the woman and then led police on a chase into Scott County. Davis' car was stopped after Scott County sheriff's deputies deployed devices that deflated his tires. State police said Davis got out of the car and pointed a handgun at the deputies. Isaacs shot him with a rifle.

Scott County Sheriff Tony Hampton is conducting an internal investigation, but he has said the deputy is expected to return to duty relatively soon.
