Kentucky State Police arrested a 50-year-old man after he allegedly threatened his colleagues at McCreary County Public Schools.
James M. Paulson, 50, of Stearns was being held at the Laurel County jail on a charge of second-degree terroristic threatening, a class D felony, according to the state police post at London.
Paulson was arrested after police were notified Tuesday that verbal threats had been made against Pine Knoff Elementary School and McCreary County School Superintendent Arthur Wright, police said. The initial investigation indicated that the alleged threats stemmed from budget reductions and accompanying job cuts in the McCreary school system. However, police said Paulson's job with the district was not among the affected jobs.
State police said there was no evidence to suggest that the school or its employees or students were in any immediate danger.
