Rowan man indicted for alleged sexual abuse of a child

A Rowan County grand jury has indicted a man accused of sexually abusing a child.

Robert L. Workman, 44, of Clearfield, was indicted May 17 on charges of second-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, 3rd-degree burglary, second-degree indecent exposure, tampering with physical evidence and eavesdropping, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police. They said more charges are pending.

The Morehead News reported that the abuse is said to have occurred since 2006, and that some incidents happened at the Rowan County Health Department. The website for the Gateway District Health Department lists a Rob Workman as a technical specialist at the Rowan County Health Center.

State police said Workman was taken to the Rowan County Detention Center, but he was not listed among the jail's inmates Tuesday night. The Morehead News reported that Workman is out on $50,000 bond.
