ELIZABETHTOWN — A woman's body was found Wednesday morning alongside Interstate 65 near the 99 mile marker.
A mowing company found the body lying on the northbound side about 9:30 a.m on Wednesday, according to a release from Kentucky State Police. The release said it was a woman's body, but provided no other details.
The Hardin County coroner conducted an on-scene investigation, however, the body will be sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville for further examination.
The State Highway Department closed the right lane of I-65 from the 98 mile marker to just past mile marker 99. The lane will likely be closed for several hours.

UPDATE: The cause of death on the female body found alongside I-65 today has been determined to be multiple blunt force trauma injuries to the head. However, age, race, and nationality have yet to be determined. Toxicology and other test results are pending. Further details will be released once they are available. Det. Mike May is conducting the ongoing the investigation.
