A man was killed Friday when his sport-utility vehicle crashed in Shelby County after he led officers on a chase on Interstate 64, according to Kentucky State Police.
Marcus A Slone, 29, of Brandenburg was pronounced dead at the scene by the Shelby County coroner's office, police said.
At 3:44 a.m., state police in Frankfort were asked to help the Shelby County sheriff's office in a pursuit on westbound I-64.
The sheriff's office had received a complaint about a reckless driver near the Waddy interchange. When officers attempted to stop the red 2000 Chevrolet Blazer for reckless driving and excessive speed over 100 mph, the driver fled, state police said.

The vehicle left the interstate, turning south onto Taylorsville Road. After 10 miles, the Blazer turned onto Ky. 148. It went off a curve about eight miles later and struck a tree line, police said. Slone was thrown from the overturned vehicle, which caught fire.
Officers tried to extinguish the fire before fire departments arrived, according to a news release.
