Two Kentucky State Police troopers shot a man in Harlan County Monday after he raised his weapon toward them, police said.
Jason W. Edmond, 42, was airlifted to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. Trooper Shane Jacobs said Edmond was reportedly in stable condition Tuesday.
Shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, the Cumberland Police Department in Harlan County asked for state police help in responding to a complaint of shots fired.
Edmond had barricaded himself inside his residence after allegedly firing shots into several neighboring homes, police said.

Eventually, Edmond came out into the front yard and began screaming and threatening officers, according to a police news release.
Edmond raised his weapon in troopers' direction, and two troopers shot him, police said. No troopers or officers where injured during the incident.
State police were investigating Tuesday.
