A 55-year-old Lexington man died early Wednesday after being hit on New Circle Road Tuesday night, according to the Fayette coroner's office.
The man, whose name wasn't released, was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with severe injuries after being hit by a sport-utility vehicle while trying to cross New Circle Road Tuesday night.
The outer loop of East New Circle between Golden Way and Old Paris Pike was closed for several hours while police investigated.
The pedestrian did not appear to have been in a crosswalk when he was hit, police said. The driver of the SUV was not injured.
