Lexington police have filed a trafficking charge against a University of Kentucky student who was shot Sunday night near the UK campus.
Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts confirmed Tuesday afternoon that police have charged Ryan Jennings, 22, with trafficking in a controlled substance.
Roberts said Jennings was at the University Chandler Hospital, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to the back. His condition was not available.
Jennings thus becomes the third person to be charged with drug-related offenses in connection with the shooting incident, which happened about 11:30 Sunday night at a residence on Elizabeth Street.

Police were looking for two men who shot Jennings. Jennings told investigators that the two men followed him home Sunday evening, tried to force their way into the residence, and shot him.
Roberts said the two attackers fled after Ainsley Murrell, who lived in the house, fired a warning shot at the men with a .22-caliber rifle.
Murrell is charged with trafficking in marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, Roberts said.
Taylor Cox, another resident at the home, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence, Roberts said.
Roberts said investigating officers saw marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the scene Sunday night.
