A Fayette County grand jury has indicted a man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend in the stomach.
The victim, identified in the indictment as Doreena Smith, told police she was getting into a car with another man and her 5-year-old child when her ex-boyfriend, Frederick C. Morgan, 30, pulled up and shot her in the stomach.
The shooting happened on the 900 block of Valley Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. Sept. 8.
Morgan was indicted Tuesday on one count of second-degree assault — domestic violence, two counts of wanton endangerment and one count of violation of a Kentucky emergency protective order/domestic violence order.

The indictment says the wanton endangerment charges were filed because Morgan shot into a vehicle occupied by Scott Hersey and a minor identified as N.M.
Morgan was being held in the Fayette County Detention Center on $20,000 full cash bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Fayette Circuit Court at noon Nov. 21.
