A Pulaski County sheriff's deputy accused of using excessive force during arrests plans to plead guilty.
Attorneys for Steve Molen filed a motion Thursday saying he will plead guilty to a federal charge that he assaulted a man during an arrest in August 2008. The motion sought a hearing for Molen to enter the plea.
The plea document did not identify the victim, but the initials matched those of former Burnside Mayor Chuck Fourman.
Fourman, facing financial and personal pressures, had slit his wrist, then drove away from a police officer who tried to pull him over, according to a court document.
Molen and other officers chased him into neighboring Russell County. After he had been handcuffed, Molen allegedly kicked him.
Molen was indicted on that charge in the federal Western District of Kentucky, which includes Russell County. He also faces two federal charges of assaulting two people in Pulaski County during arrests.
