Kentucky couple charged with sexually abusing woman's preteen daughter

A Kentucky couple have been charged with sexually abusing the woman's juvenile daughter, according to Kentucky State Police.

Laura Pike, 38, and her boyfriend, Brett Smith, 36, are charged with sodomy, sexual abuse and unlawful transaction with a minor, according to a news release from the state police post at Campbellsburg. In addition, Pike is charged with incest.

All the charges involve a juvenile younger than 12, according to state police.

Pike and Smith were listed as being from Fisherville, in Jefferson County.

State police said they arrested Smith and Pike on Friday at a home in Spencer County.

The alleged abuse occurred while the two were living in Henry County, according to state police.

Pike was taken to the Carroll County jail; Smith was placed in the Shelby County jail.

The Spencer County Sheriff's Department is assisting state police in the investigation.
