A Stanford man who was injured in a collision with a school bus this month died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital early Saturday.
William Otis Coleman, 36, was driving a pickup truck that was hit head-on by a Lincoln County school bus May 7.
He was pronounced dead at midnight as a result of multiple blunt force trauma, according to a news release from the Fayette County coroner's office. Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford is in charge of arrangements.
State police said the school bus was eastbound on Ky. 78 near the Thornhill Lane intersection about 4 miles west of Stanford when the driver, Judy Asbery, 44, of Hustonville, swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid rear-ending another bus that was stopped in traffic.
The bus crashed into Coleman's 2005 GMC Sierra just before 8 a.m., police said.
The bus was carrying 48 middle school students. After the wreck, 28 students and the bus driver were checked at area hospitals, but none appeared to be seriously hurt, Lincoln Schools Superintendent Karen Hatter said.
