Lexington police Sgt. Peter Lynn Ford was charged with assault after allegedly hitting his daughter with a toy baton last month.
Ford, who's assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit, told police his 11-year-old daughter "was out of control" and hit him while he tried to keep her from leaving the family's home, according to documents filed in Fayette Circuit Court on July 14.
The girl told police Ford hit her several times with a toy baton that resulted in minor redness on her wrists, the documents said.
Ford is charged with fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. He's scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
