Kentucky State Police have charged a Martin County man in the deaths of three people whose bodies were found Saturday in a burned house.

State police said Monday that Jack D. Smith, 41, of Inez is charged with three counts of murder, one count of first-degree robbery and one count of tampering with evidence.

Phelps & Son Funeral Home in Inez confirmed the identity of the victims: Cainie Johnson Jr., 46; Tina Yvonne Goble, 42; and her granddaughter, Trinity Janae Maynard, 8.

Police arrested Smith on Saturday after the bodies were found in the burned house on the outskirts of Inez.

Authorities have released few details about the fire.

Martin County Deputy Coroner Ronnie Mathis said Monday that autopsies on the three were not complete. As a result, information on the causes of death was not available.

Smith was being held Monday at Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Johnson County. The detention center's website did not list a bond for him.

The site listed several charges against him in addition to those announced by state police: one count of first-degree drug possession, two counts of third-degree drug possession and one count of having prescription drugs in an improper container.
