A Lexington woman endangered her two children by leaving them in a parked car Tuesday with the engine running, police have charged.
Brandy Becksted, 28, is to appear Wednesday afternoon in Fayette District Court on two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and a charge of allowing a vehicle to run unattended.
A Lexington police officer arrested Becksted on Tuesday afternoon after noticing a car parked outside the Fayette County jail with two small children inside.
The children are 2 and 4 years old, according to information filed with the court.
Police said Becksted stated that she had gone to the jail to deposit money in an inmate's account, and she left her children in the car because she didn't want to wake the youngest, who was sleeping.
