Lexington police blocked Regency Road for about 2½ hours Thursday afternoon after a man barricaded himself inside a home.
Lt. Eric Snow said police were called to the home at 2100 Regency Road by a man's relative after he threaten to harm himself. The man, whose name was not immediately given, was barricaded inside with a pistol and a dog.
The department's Emergency Response Unit, including two robots, and its Mobile Command Post were used during negotiations with the man. There were about 15 patrol cars at the scene.
Snow said the incident started at about 2:30 p.m. A day care center was evacuated as a precaution. The incident ended when the man voluntarily came out of the home. He was immediately taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
