Lexington police are urging commuters to be cautious traveling downtown this weekend due to heavy traffic for the Garth Brooks concerts.
Officials are expecting 80,000 people to flood the streets of downtown for the four shows scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.
Those attending the concert should give themselves enough time to drive into downtown and find parking. Roberts said the best place to park is on Old Frankfort Pike and allow shuttles to transport concertgoers to and from their cars.
Officers with the department's traffic unit will utilize the same plan for University of Kentucky basketball games, while Rupp Arena officials will assist with pedestrian crossings at critical intersections.

Roberts said a much more detailed plan would be released Friday morning notifying commuters the best ways to travel into downtown. But if you don't have to travel downtown Friday and Saturday night, don't, police urged.
