Somerset man in critical condition at UK Hospital after crash in Pulaski County

An 86-year-old man was in critical condition Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle crash in Pulaski County.

It happened about 9:30 a.m. Monday at Ky. 1247 and U.S. 27 near Science Hill, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies said the crash occurred when Robert Hyden of Somerset was turning his 1997 Chevrolet pickup from Ky. 1247 onto U.S. 27 when the pickup crossed in front of a 2005 Hyundai driven by Sherman Meece, 54, also of Somerset.

Hyden was flown to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital in Lexington, where he was reported in critical condition Tuesday morning. Meece was not injured, police said.

Two passengers in Meece's car — Christopher Meece, 23, and Kathy Meece, 40, both of Somerset — were taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
