Two Lexington banks were robbed Tuesday afternoon.

People's Exchange Bank on Clays Mill Road was robbed by a man who implied a weapon, demanded money and then left, police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

She said the man was 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a blue bandana over his face. He was carrying a backpack.

That robbery was reported at 1:13 p.m., said police Lt. Kevin Metcalf.

Just after 3 p.m., United Bank at 3098 Harrodsburg Road was robbed, he said.

Roberts said the perpetrator of that robbery implied a weapon, asked for money and then left. No one was in custody in either case Tuesday night.
