Prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty for two people charged in a triple murder in Martin County.
The Martin County Circuit Clerk's office confirmed that Commonwealth's Attorney Anna Melvin filed papers Tuesday to seek the death penalty in the case against Jack Smith, 41, and Amanda Bowen, 26.
Smith and Bowen, both from Inez, face murder and other charges in the deaths of Tina Goble, 42; her boyfriend, Cannie Johnson, 46; and Goble's 8-year-old granddaughter, Trinity Janae Maynard.
The victims, who were shot and stabbed, were found in Goble's burned-out home at Inez on Aug. 16.

Police said in an arrest warrant that Smith and Bowen took items from the home including medicine and jewelry.
Smith and Bowen have pleaded not guilty.
