Pedestrian hit by car on Liberty Road dies of his injuries

A pedestrian died Sunday morning after being hit by a car Saturday on Liberty Road.

The Fayette County coroner's office reported that Jacob Hamilton, 23, died about 7:30 a.m. Sunday at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center of blunt force trauma.

Lexington police said Hamilton was waiting for a bus near Liberty and Wilderness roads when he was hit by a red Pontiac Sunfire about 7:45 p.m.

Police said the driver left the scene but later called police and admitted to hitting Hamilton.

The accident remains under investigation, Lt. Jesse Harris said Sunday afternoon.

Hamilton was the third pedestrian killed by a car since September.
