Six Anderson County firefighters are out of the hospital after being injured when their firetruck crashed while on an emergency run Tuesday night.
Capt. Brandon Brown of the Anderson County Fire Department said Wednesday morning that five of the injured men were taken to the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. The sixth, who had to be cut out of the wrecked truck, went to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, he said.
All six are doing well, Brown said Wednesday morning.
The man treated at UK might have suffered a slight concussion and is dealing with some lingering blurred vision, Brown said.
He said he didn't know details of the five treated in Frankfort, although X-rays had confirmed that they had no broken bones.
The names of the firefighters had not been released Wednesday morning.
The six were injured about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, when their firetruck crashed into a tree on Puckett Road in Anderson County.
Brown said the firefighters crashed while responding to a car wreck with injuries.
"It's not clear yet exactly what happened; there is still an investigation going on," he said. "The way I understand it, they were within a half-mile of the original accident scene when they crashed."
Other units from the county fire department rushed to help the injured firefighters, Brown said. They cut out the firefighter trapped in the front passenger seat.
"We had all hands on board," Brown said.
