2 men hit in leg in separate Lexington shootings

Two men turned up at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington on Sunday with gunshot wounds to a leg, but neither case appeared to be related to the other or life-threatening, police said.

The first shooting victim, in his mid-40s, arrived at the hospital at 7:27 a.m., said police Lt. Jesse Harris. That man told police a masked man smashed through the back door of his home on the 600 block of Anniston Drive about 5 a.m. The masked man reportedly struggled with the victim, shot him, then fled, Harris said.

It was not immediately clear why the victim waited 21/2 hours to seek medical treatment.

In the second case, Harris said, police received reports about 2:30 p.m. of shots fired near an apartment complex on the 1100 block of Kees Road, near North Broadway and 12th Street. Shortly thereafter, a 25-year-old man went to the hospital and said he had been shot in the Kees Road incident. Witnesses saw the alleged shooter drove off in a silver Mercedes, Harris said.
