The Fayette County coroner has identified a man who was stabbed to death Sunday night as Todd Schumacher.
Schumacher, 40, died of multiple stab wounds in his home on Lamont Drive, Coroner Gary Ginn said.
Schumacher's slaying is the city's first homicide of 2015.
Lexington police were called to the home in the 500 block of Lamont Drive shortly before 7:30 p.m. They found one man dead and a second man with injuries, Lt. Chris Spurlock said.
Spurlock said the second man was taken to a local hospital and treated.
A few hours later, police charged Matthew P. Donaghy, 21, with murder for the slaying of Schumacher.
According to court documents, Donaghy "obtained a dangerous instrument and assaulted the victim."
WKYT-27 reported that the two men had been dating.
Donaghy was being held in the Fayette County jail. He's scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon on the murder charge.
