A Lexington woman pleaded not guilty in Fayette District Court Wednesday to manslaughter and other charges in connection with a fatal wreck last September.
Kayla Mitchell Foster entered the plea through her attorney, and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing Feb. 3.
Foster, 27, is charged with second-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault, and leaving the scene of the wreck.
It occurred on Iron Works Pike near the Kentucky Horse Park about 4:50 a.m. Sept. 14, 2014.
According to court filings, Foster was driving a 1998 Chrysler Sebring when she allegedly crossed the center line of the highway and collided with a 1999 Honda Accord driven by Leonel Perez. Foster did not stop after the wreck, police allege.
A passenger in the Mustang, Enereida De Los Santos, 51, sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the crash scene, police said.
Perez was seriously injured, according to court documents.
Foster was arrested Tuesday.
