A Harrison County High School student was killed and another was injured in a Monday afternoon crash near Falmouth, Pendleton County Sheriff Craig Peoples said.
Darin Williams, 18, of Cynthiana was flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Peoples said.
The driver, Bradlee Beagle, 18, of Cynthiana, was taken to the Cincinnati hospital with chest injuries, Peoples said. A hospital spokeswoman said there was no patient by that name Tuesday.
The crash happened at 1 p.m. on U.S. 27 about four miles south of Falmouth.
A vehicle had stopped for a dog crossing the road, when Beagle's vehicle came up from behind. Beagle swerved off the road to miss the stopped vehicle, and his vehicle came back onto the road, went out of control and slid sideways. It then went over an embankment and rolled several times, Peoples said.
Williams was apparently not wearing a seat belt, Peoples said.
