A man who came into a Lexington Burger King and demanded money Saturday afternoon appeared to be armed and dangerous — until he fired his cap gun.
Employees of the Burger King at 3348 Clays Mill Road said a short, thin man wearing a hoodie, mask and surgical gloves came in and demanded money, which they gave him, at 3:11 p.m., police Lt. Jeremy Tuttle said.
The man was carrying what appeared to be a gun, and before he ran out, the man shot into the air and then at the employees, Tuttle said.
"They smelled the smell like a cap gun," he said.
An employee ran after the robber but lost track of him after he ran across the street toward some apartments, Tuttle said.
