A Powell County husband and wife have been sentenced to three years and five months in prison for making counterfeit $20 bills.
Timothy Ray Profitt, 34, and Amanda Marie Profitt, 27, admitted to copying real bills to make fake ones in fall 2013.
The two sold fake bills with a value of $2,860 for a total of $460, knowing the other people would spend them, according to a court document.
Timothy Ray Profitt's attorney said in a court document that Profitt's conduct was a consequence of his drug problem.
U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves sentenced the two March 19.
