An argument in Breathitt County escalated and a man was shot, Kentucky State Police said.
The shooting occurred Tuesday morning after a physical altercation between Tom Allen and Sesco Noble at a home on Sewell Street in Jackson.
Allen went to his home on Smith Branch Road, picked up a gun and returned to Sewell Street, where he allegedly shot Noble in the chest, according to state police at the Hazard post.
Noble was treated at a Jackson hospital then was flown to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, according to police. There was no word on his condition Wednesday morning.
Allen returned home, where he was arrested, troopers said. He was charged with first-degree assault and was taken to Three Forks Regional Jail at Beattyville.
Allen also was treated for injuries from the struggle with Noble, police said.
An investigation into the shooting is continuing, state police said.
