A man suffered a minor bullet wound during an altercation in Lincoln County Monday morning, Kentucky State Police said, but he, rather than the shooter, was the one who wound up in jail.
It happened about 8:30 a.m. on Spring Run Road, outside the Stanford city limits, according to Lincoln County dispatchers.
Both men had left the scene, however, by the time officers arrived, according to state police at the Richmond post. A search for the men began.
Police found the suspected shooter, whose name has not been released, about 10 minutes later.
But the victim was not found until about 1 p.m. in a vehicle near Ky. 78 and Ky. 128 in Lincoln County, troopers said.
The wounded man, Donald Depew Jr., 36, was treated at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, and he was later arrested on outstanding warrants unrelated to the shooting, police said.
No charges had been filed against the alleged shooter as of Monday evening, and state police were continuing to investigate.
