Marshals find fugitive child rapist hiding in Lexington bedroom

A convicted child rapist who had been on the run from Virginia since 2013 was arrested by federal agents in Lexington.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Douglas "Scott" McBride at a home on Pasadena Drive, where he apparently had been living for the past eight months, federal officials said in Richmond, Va.

McBride, 51, was convicted of rape, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and other charges in Dinwiddie, Va., in 2013. He never showed up for sentencing, authorities said.

An 18-month investigation by the task force and Dinwiddie County authorities led officers to Lexington, where they found McBride hiding in a back bedroom at the home Wednesday morning.

Lexington police filed additional drug charges against McBride after investigators found 18 marijuana plants growing at the home. Also found were 1,800 pills, marshals said.
