Lexington fire investigators planned to return Thursday morning to the site of a building fire to look at the damage in daylight in hopes of pinpointing the cause, Battalion Chief Mark Harvey said.
The fire late Wednesday night destroyed a shed and threatened a larger building that formerly housed the Henry M. Stevens Roofing Co. at Nelms Avenue and South Broadway.
One person was injured when the fire occurred about 11:30 p.m., but the victim's injuries were not life-threatening, Harvey said.
Two homeless people were found inside the larger building.
Smoke and flames were visible when firefighters arrived, but they were able to extinguish the fire in the shed and keep the larger building from catching fire, Harvey said.
