A Rockcastle County deputy sheriff, called to check on an elderly woman Tuesday night, discovered her dead in her home. Kentucky State Police said her death is considered a homicide.
Mary A. Hinton, 86, lived alone on Red Hill Road in the Livingston community of eastern Rockcastle County, state police said in a news release.
The cause of death has not been determined, but foul play is suspected, state police said. An autopsy is to be conducted by the state medical examiner's office.
State police said the house showed signs of a home invasion.
