Dustin James Yost, 22, charged in the slaying of a man who was found lying on Bellefonte Drive in Lexington on March 17, was indicted on murder and tampering with evidence charges Wednesday afternoon.
Yost is accused in the shooting death of Vondre R. Smithers, 20. Smithers was found lying in the 3300 block of Bellefonte Drive, near Lansdowne Drive, about 7 a.m. He had a bullet wound in his head. He died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
Yost told police that he was in his silver Jeep Liberty when Smithers was shot by an unknown black man, according to court documents. Yost admitted he and Smithers met for a drug deal.
Yost was being held in the Fayette County jail on a $1,003,000 full cash bond. He was scheduled to be arraigned June 25.
