Two people who were standing in front of a broken-down vehicle alongside New Circle Road were hospitalized Monday night after a crash that pushed the vehicle into them.
The disabled vehicle was parked in the emergency lane on the inner loop of New Circle near the Richmond Road exit, and another vehicle driven by someone who had stopped to help was parked behind it, Lexington police Sgt. Joe Anderson said.
Another vehicle on New Circle Road veered into the emergency lane and hit the rear vehicle, pushing it into the disabled vehicle.
An adult and a young teen who had been in the disabled vehicle and were standing in front of it were injured, Anderson said.
Both were taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening. However, Anderson described the adult's injuries as "significant."
No one else was injured in the collision, which occurred shortly after 9 p.m., he said.
