One person was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with a gunshot wound after a robbery Monday night behind a Lexington pharmacy.
Police were called about 7 p.m. after an armed robbery and shooting behind the CVS pharmacy at New Circle Road and North Limestone, police said. The victim was shot once in the shoulder, and two other people suffered minor injuries.
Two or three people participated in the robbery, police said. One was described as a black man with short hair, wearing a black shirt and black shorts and armed with a handgun, police said. Police did not have descriptions of any others involved.
The gunman and other assailants left in a white sport utility vehicle. Police said it is uncertain which direction the assailants were headed.
Lt. Tommy Perkins said Monday night that the man who was shot apparently tried to get away from the shooters. His black Toyota Camry jumped a curb before coming to stop in a nearby Rent-A-Center parking lot, Perkins said.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Lexington police at (859) 258-3600 or go to Bluegrasscrimestoppers.com.
