Man found wounded multiple times in Lexington’s first 2016 shooting

Just a few hours into 2016, Lexington recorded its first shooting with a man found on Roosevelt Boulevard with multiple wounds, Lexington police Lt. Clay Combs said.

The site is off Georgetown Street, inside New Circle Road and not far from Douglass Park.

Police received a call about an unresponsive man in the 400 block of Roosevelt Boulevard at 5:17 a.m., Combs said.

When police arrived, they found a 28-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds laying in a driveway near the sidewalk, Combs said.

The victim taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Combs said. As of about 8 a.m., the man had been taken into surgery and was in critical condition.

WKYT reported the man was shot in the head, chest and lower part of his body.
