Two women dead of homicide, man’s death self-inflicted; is there a connection?

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton would not say Saturday whether the deaths of two women whose bodies were found Friday night are related to the apparent suicide of a man in Frankfort.

The bodies of two women were found shortly before 6:30 p.m. Friday inside a residence on Pea Ridge Road, Melton said. They appeared to have died from gunshot wounds, and Melton said they are being investigated as homicides.

The bodies were taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort for autopsies.

Meanwhile, Frankfort police are investigating the apparent suicide of a man whose body was found at 2 p.m. Friday on Washington Street.

The man had a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound, said Frankfort police spokesman Maj. Rob Warfel.

“There are apparently some other things that have gone on that may or may not be related to our case, but they occurred out in the county,” Warfel said. “My understanding is that it’s possibly related to the case we have open and are investigating.”

Melton had no comment when asked if there was a connection between the county homicide case and the city death investigation. “Sorry, just not a whole lot to say right now,” Melton said in a text.

He did say a press conference is planned for Monday.

The names of the dead were not released.

If anyone has information about the Pea Ridge Road deaths, they are asked to call Franklin County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Shane Weber at (502) 875-8740 or Text-a-Tip to (502) 320-3306.
