A McKee teen was charged Monday with attempted murder after he admitted shooting a man in the back, near the neck, according to Richmond police.

Jimmy R. Skinner, 18, of Drip Rock Tower Road in McKee fired five or six shots from a vehicle about 11:15 p.m. Sunday on Turpin Drive in Richmond, police said.

Skinner was seen hanging out of the vehicle, aiming a gun, police said.

The vehicle was driven by his girlfriend, and her infant and another person also were in the car, police said. Their names weren’t released.

The victim, Sammy Isaac, was shot once after being dropped off on Turpin Drive, police said. Isaac was listed in critical condition at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Police found the vehicle at 230 North Madison Avenue, where Skinner was in an apartment. Skinner allowed police to search his apartment and admitted to the shooting, police said. The weapon was recovered.

Skinner also is charged with wanton endangerment because the vehicle was carrying an infant when he fired the weapon. No one else was charged, police said.
