Two people were charged Tuesday after Boyle County sheriff’s deputies discovered that they were living with three children in a shed that had no electricity or plumbing.

Gregory R. Wilkerson, 44, and Brandi Harmon, 25, were charged charged with three counts of criminal abuse of a child 12 years old or younger, according to the sheriff’s office. Wilkerson also was charged with possession of marijuana and had a child support warrant out for his arrest.

The five were living in “extreme unfit living conditions,” according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies found a bucket containing human feces inside the shed on Lebanon Road.

The three children were taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center with extreme rashes and bug bites, according to the sheriff’s office. The children were then taken into protective custody and are awaiting placement by social services.
