Police arrest man in stabbing of Lexington woman

Police have arrested a man whom they expect to charge in connection with the assault of a woman in her home.

David J. Williams was arrested at about 2 p.m. Friday and charged in a separate burglary case, but Lexington police Lt. Andrew Daugherty said more charges are expected to be filed in the assault.

Police who were called to the woman’s home on Dogwood Drive at about 7:45 a.m. found the woman with shallow puncture wounds to her chest and back, and she was taken to a local hospital.

Daugherty said the woman told police that a man had broken into her house earlier in the night when she was in bed. She said the man demanded money, and when she told him she didn’t have any, he assaulted her.

“We had an idea who this suspect was,” Daugherty said.

He said an officer spotted Williams walking in the Versailles Road area and took him into custody.
