Two men accused of beating a man who agreed to drive them home from a bar early Thursday morning, stealing his Prius and driving it to a Taco Bell have charged with robbery, Nicholasville police said.

Officers were called to Hickory Hill Road just after midnight about someone lying in the street, police said. Officers found a 30-year-old man lying in the road with facial injuries. The man told them that two men he’d been driving home from a bar had beaten him, left him in the street and taken his car.

Acting on a tip, officers contacted the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, police said. Deputies found the Prius in the parking lot of Taco Bell in Lawrenceburg.

Christopher Damrel, 24, of Nicholasville and Joseph Penny, 22, of Lawrenceburg were charged with first-degree robbery, police said. They were being held in the Jessamine County jail.
