A Lexington man has been charged in connection with the Sunday shooting of his cousin, police said.
Anthony Lamont Beard Jr., 26, was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree burglary.
At 1:15 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the 100 block of Jackson Street for a report of a person shot, police said. Officers found a 23-year-old man inside a house suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim, who was not named, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Several witnesses identified Beard as the shooter, and detectives learned that Beard and his cousin had argued on Saturday, according to police.
Before the shooting, Beard had unlawfully entered the cousin’s house with a handgun, police said.
Beard was later seen walking in the area and was detained without incident. He was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center.
