The University of Kentucky's College of Fine Arts dean announced Thursday that he will resign June 30.
Robert Shay, who became dean in June 1998, will stay at UK as a ceramics professor, according to the university.
UK Provost Kumble Subbaswamy credited Shay with helping bolster the prominence of the School of Music and helping create the first fine arts extension program for Kentuckians, which also was the first program of its kind in the country.
"Dean Shay has led our College of Fine Arts for over a decade with dedication," Subbaswamy said. "I am grateful for his service and wish him well as he returns to the faculty."
