Jay Blanton, director of marketing and communications at the Keeneland race course, is returning to the University of Kentucky to run the school's public relations and marketing.
Blanton, 42, has been with Keeneland for less than a year and had previously worked as communications director for Gov. Steve Beshear. Nick Nicholson, president and chief executive officer of Keeneland, said in a release that he supported Blanton's decision to return to UK.
Nicholson said that Blanton had told him that at Keeneland, "I watch people here literally bleed green they are so devoted to this place. When you open me up, I suspect they would find I bleed blue. ... I keep coming back to the fact that UK is home."
Jimmy Stanton, who had been UK's public relations director, is moving to the University of Tennessee as associate athletics director for communications. Stanton will oversee the Volunteers' media relations, public relations, internet communications, broadcasting and photography.
