Midway College said on Thursday that it had enrolled its 2,000th student this academic year, making it the highest enrollment during an academic year in the college's 164-year history.
The student who tipped the university to 2,000 is Sergeant First Class Todd Collings, 40, who works at the Lexington Armory. Collings plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
In 2010, Midway unveiled a strategic plan to reach enrollment of 4,000 students by the year 2015. Midway includes five divisions: Women's College, School for Career Development, Graduate School, Online College and the School of Pharmacy. In 2010, the college opened a new campus in Radcliff and a pharmacy school in Paintsville.
The school of pharmacy will enroll its first class in fall 2011.
